This event was held last week. I had the opportunity to attend the event since i was in Bangsar area at that time. It was organized by EFFEKTS (formerly known as LomokidS) for Orphanage House.

Awesome people were everywhere! We talked about our main concern, HIV and Film photography. Since both are in my area of interest, i had less difficulty in handling these.

HIV is a abbreviation for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, while AIDS is Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. Spread of HIV is usually due to transmission to from infected person by few ways, such as unprotected sexual intercourse and breast feeding.

These orphans, in other words, may or may not have been infected. They may look normal physically, but mentally, only God knows.

Let us help them!

I don't know why i love to take pictures at night, particularly night market. You tend to see different things, unlike the normal boring morning market. Perhaps, anticipation is important. Plan ahead what you want to see, visualize and snap!

However, currently i'm in shutter-block mode. Haven't had this kind of block that last this long. It has been a month.

Plus, i had about 5 rolls of photos (equivalent to 180 photos) to be uploaded to flickr. Yet, i haven't updated the previous photos (around 30 photos, i guess) into my portfolio.

Currently, i had loss interest in digital imaging. I'm too into old photographic methods. Not that digital is boring, digital is fun and faster, but somehow, it misses few important elements. You tend to forget the process involved and became less imaginative.

Becoming less imaginative is equal to being fragile. You tend to give up things easily because it's easy to do!

I rarely type in this blog. This should be something weird to do.

This happened last week , on monday to be precise. I had a dream of someone opening top of my camera. It was about 2-3 seconds, but i remembered it clearly. So, on tuesday morning, i decided to bring my camera from CLAd.

So, What the hell is CLAd? Clean, Lubricate, Adjust.

Apparently my camera is a bit different and very hard to operate, meaning, you need to have special tools to open it. Luckily, the camera repair guy, named Andy had those. These generation of people had been servicing camera since their granddad's.

And yes, i had difficulties in focusing, as the camera was left unused by the previous owner for years. As for the lens, mind you that the lens is as old as 40 years old! Like old people, it has problem with moving. Thus the repair guy called it as "helicoid" problem (idk!). The focusing is not smooth, at all!

I had no choice. By sending to Hongkong, i will waste 2 things. Time and money. It took my lecturer about 2 months for a normal CLAd in hongkong, plus, he was charged at about RM2000!

Yeah, i took a shot and guess what? The guy took around 3 days for servicing and only charge me RM500.

Now things are better!

Let me show you the difference.

As far as i remembered, i focused at no "8" but why on earth the photo turned out to be blurred? the guy was not moving for few seconds, and my aperture was wide open.

Incase you are looking for a camera repair guy, i suggest you head to Mutiara Complex in Jalan Ipoh and look for their shop next to Digicolor shop! Try to look for Andy or Albert.

Service: Quite fast and polite waiter.

Food: They served western food. delicious scale: 9 - 10

We usually had Mix grill. Most of the foods are good!

Cleanliness: 1-10: 10!

Price: proportionately to the food. Mix grill cost around RM30, while chicken chop around RM15.

This is one of my macro attempt using my Fuji Instax 200. Basically, what you need is a magnifying glass. So, i've used akmal's Raynox as well as my Speedlight SB800. Utilizing Fuji Instax's built in flash, i am able to trigger SB800 simultaneously, wirelessly.

However, this is still in trial and error mode. It is not easy to focus the subject, since the camera's eyepiece is not as accurate as SLR's viewfinder.

I'll try something else tomorrow.
